On February 19, 2024 (the 10th day of the first month of the Year of the Dragon), GEM 2024 Commencement Ceremony was held at the main sites in Shenzhen headquarters and QMB Park in Indonesia, along with branch sites in each region. Professor Xu Kaihua, Board Chairman of GEM, and Ms. Wang Min, Co-Substantive Controller and Director of GEM, participated in the event.

At 8:48 a.m., each park held a ceremony to start the work, firecrackers, ceremonial flowers, congratulations on the start of work, dragon travel in a festive and cheerful atmosphere, GEM moving forward to welcome the new spirit of 2024, blowing the horn of victory in spring.

At 9:18 a.m., the New Year's Tea Party started on time, and the global GEM’s employees gathered in the clouds to send greetings of the Year of the Dragon to each other via video, and together opened the year 2024, where hopes and challenges coexist.

The Year of the Dragon begins with a new beginning, and the Group strives for a "good start"! Chairman Xu Kaihua pointed out that all business segments of the Group have achieved a "good start" in the Year of the Dragon, laying a solid foundation for the development of Group in 2024 and achieving rapid business growth. In 2024, GEM will gain consecutive good fortune, and will strive to achieve a substantial improvement in sales performance. Next, Chairman Xu Kaihua delivered a speech with the theme of "Promote the spirit of dragons and horses (meaning “a spirit of vitality”), take responsibility, and implement it in the field".

The first point is to promote the spirit of dragons and horses. The dragon, as the mascot and spiritual totem of the Chinese nation, symbolizes good weather and dragon luck. The horse is the "first horse" and the "horse to success", which symbolizes perseverance and commitment, and dares to advance to the battlefield without fear of hardship and danger. The "Dragon Horse Spirit" is to defeat competitors and achieve victory in global industrial challenges through struggle. Chairman Xu Kaihua explained the reason and importance of "Promoting the spirit of dragons and horses" from three aspects.

First, seize the opportunity of the times. At present, the world is grasping the opportunity of the times, and everyone is grasping the opportunity of the times, just to carry forward the spirit of dragons and horses, faster than others, more diligent than others, the important things to do personally, not to be good for small but not to do, we can seize the opportunity of the times.

Second, to meet the challenges and win the battle of world industry competition. At present, the global competition pattern of the new energy industry is intensifying, and there are many uncertainties in global economic growth. The year 2024 is the first and key year of global competition in this industry, so we must correctly understand the major challenges we face and the strong competitors. At the same time, the Group is also facing the serious reality of business revitalization and transformation internally. In the face of these external international competition and internal business revitalization conflicts, we cannot stand idly by, but must face these challenges with the spirit of dragons and horses, and overcome difficulties with a sense of crisis and responsibility to "worry about the whole world before the world worries, and rejoice after the whole world rejoices", so as to resolve various contradictions in global competition and revitalization of our business.

Third, we will ride the wave forward to achieve globalization quickly. In 2024, we will promote the spirit of dragons and horses, consolidate the achievements of "going to sea", carry forward the achievements of "going to sea", and turn them into the strongest competitiveness of GEM. Since 2016, GEM has begun to strive for "going to sea", and has successfully implemented the construction of Parks in South Korea, South Africa and Indonesia, which are the pioneers of "going to sea" in the global industry. Especially in the past five years, the success of GEM's nickel resource project in Indonesia has attracted worldwide attention. At present, the global "going to sea" tide is surging, and we are facing great pressure and severe challenges in "going to sea" operations and nickel resource production capacity and other aspects. We must build on the "going to sea" achievements of the previous period, and lead the "going to sea" trend again with the spirit of dragons and horses. We should ensure that the existing production capacity of stable production, overproduction, at the lowest cost, the fastest speed, rapid completion of the second stage, the third stage of production capacity construction, the fastest speed to pull through the industrial chain, to create the most complete industrial chain of laterite nickel ore to make new energy battery core material, while seizing the opportunity of the era of nickel resources development, making the second and the third phase of QMB project to become the world's most competitive nickel resources project.

The second point is to assume responsibility. Taking responsibility means being able to stand on one's own head and solve one's own problems, and completing goals on schedule. The Group's management should take responsibility for completing its own affairs with a beginning and an end, always keep the target in mind, make no compromises, resolutely complete the target, not shift the responsibility to others, not pass the responsibility to the leaders, so that the leaders can feel reassured. The leaders of the Group's business modules should take up their responsibilities and dare to be the first to contribute to the development of the Group amid global industry challenges and take up the contribution of business development to the development of the whole enterprise. All indicators become daily targets every day to grasp, control the completion rate every day, shift cleaning, class closing, at the end of the day, according to the weekly summary, in accordance with the monthly accounting. Year 2024, all managers must be solid at the forefront, grasp the capacity release, grasp the cost reduction limit.
