On the morning of 14th July 2015, Zhang Yaoxue, academician of China Academy of Engineering who is also the president of Central South University, Huang Jianbai, executive vice president of Central South University and other Central South University leaders and alumnus visited GEM (Wuhan) Recycling Industrial Park. Professor Xu Kaihua, the president of GEM Group gave a warm reception to them.

Firstly, accompanied by Professor Xu Kaihua, President Zhang visited the Urban Mining Museum of GEM, the intelligent information monitoring platform, E-waste and ELV Green Dismantling Workshop. During the visit, Professor Xu Kaihua made a detailed explanation of the e-waste and scrapped vehicles harmless processing. After the visit, the school alumnus took a group photo in front of green e-waste processing plant.

Later on, President Zhang held a seminar with the main representatives of GEM. Before the meeting, Prof. Xu Kaihua gave a welcoming speech, introduced the development of GEM, and revealed the willingness of the cooperation with Central South University. During the meeting, Huang Jianbai, executive vice president of Central South University, introduced the development of Central South University. Professor Guo Xueyi described the concepts of collaboration with GEM. After the meeting, Professor Zhang made instructions on the direction of cooperation with the GEM. He said that recycling is an important development direction of Central South University for the next 50 years, and hoped to have substantial cooperation in the field of circular economy with GEM.

Finally, at the invitation of Prof. Xu Kaihua, Academician Zhang wrote an inscription for GEM. Academician Zhang highly praised GEM and looked forward to cooperating with GEM in the future.

This visit of President Zhang has enhanced the friendship of Central South University and GEM, and will form a strong bond amongst enterprises, universities, and research institutes, to help the development of the circular economy.
